Abstract and non-objective art allow me to explore color, design, and the sensuality of the media with total freedom. From my earliest years I have applied an abstract approach to all my art, including my landscapes, still lifes, figure work, abstract figurative sculpture, and even photography. In all cases, bold but balanced compositions and intense color define my abstract art, which aims to please and intrigue the viewer. My Non-Objective Art In addition to "traditional" contemporary abstracts, I also create a unique non-objective art, which I call PATTERN ABSTRACTS. These are allover patterns or symmetrical designs, built up of layers of textures and decorative pieces in a quilt-like manner, similar to the third work above and the center images below. These non-objective art works arose from my study of traditional Japanese textiles, from my love of contemporary quilts and mosaics, my own abstract and textured photography, and my photographic work with multiple exposures. The challenge in this type of non-objective art is the sensual integration of diverse elements. My abstract art aims to find order and harmony amidst complexity, to reveal the "divine irregularity" of the universe. These unusual contemporary works are visually stimulating yet meditative, and are very suitable for the workspace and other public spaces in addition to the home. colorful abstract art non-objective pattern abstracts |
